KABUL, the interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Up to 298 kg of opium were seized during an operation by counterterrorism police in the Washer district of Helmand province.
A statement from the ministry said two individuals were detained on the charge of trafficking the drugs. Their van was seized.
The operation was conducted by commando police, deputy counternarcotics minister, Lt. Gen. Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A third man was detained with 120 kg of opium in the Yara village of Maiwand district in neighbouring Kandahar province, he said.
Fifty-six kg of more opium were recovered in a separate operation in the western province of Farah, the statement said.
