MAZAR-I-SHARIF/GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Armed insurgents destroyed four mobile phone boosters in northern Balkh and southern Ghazni provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
In Chamtal district of Balkh, the fighters burnt three towers after a clash with policemen, the district chief told Pajhwok Afghan News. Gul Ahmad Paiman said one policeman and five rebels were wounded.
Paiman offered no more details, but resident Saifuddin said the guerrillas attacked MTN, Roshan and Wasal boosters in the area before noon. He added the towers were not operational.
Elsewhere, an Etisalat booster was destroyed in the Khak-i-Ghariban area of Ghazni City, the capital of Ghazni. The tower was bombed this afternoon, said the deputy police chief. Col. Mohammad Hussain.
