TIRINKOT (PAN): A policeman and two guards of a road construction company were killed as a result of a clash in the central province of Uruzgan on Thursday, officials said.
The clash erupted at 4am when Taliban fighters attacked the guards in the Shah Zafar area on the outskirts of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, said a tribal elder.
Mohammad Nabi Khan Aqa told Pajhwok Afghan News a fourth security guard was wounded in the firefight. Police reached the area in support of the guards.
The governor’s spokesman, Milad Ahmad Mudassir, confirmed the incident, saying that policemen had been sent to the area to deal with the situation.
