QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A 16-member militant group surrendered to authorities and turned in weapons in the northwestern province of Badghis, taking the number of surrendering militants in the province to 600, an official said on Saturday.

Yousaf was in contact with the intelligence department over the past three months and joined the peace process as a result of efforts by NDS officials, he said.
The group handed over six Kalashnikovs, a machinegun, three pistols and five other different kinds of light weapons to authorities.
“I don’t want to cooperate with Taliban anymore. I would help the government in maintaining security,” Mullah Yousuf said. He asked the government to provide them with work opportunities.
