KABUL insurgents were killed in separate operations in central Maidan Wardak and southern Ghazni provinces, authorities said on Monday.
Six fighters were killed and three others detained by ISAF troops in the Gulab Khel area of Sayed Abad district in Maidan Wardak province, District Chief Dr. Muslim told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Three other militants were detained along with 11 weapons in a separate overnight operation in the Tangi area of the district, he said.
Elsewhere in the country, three rebels were killed and four others detained in a night raid by ISAF troops in southern Ghazni province, an official said.
The raid took place late on Sunday night in the Barakat area of Khwaja Omari district. Several weapons were seized from the militants, said Col. Zarawar Zahid, the provincial police chief.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that the individuals killed and detained were civilians.
