ASADABAD (PAN): Five foreigners were injured along with two Afghan interpreters when an army helicopter crashed in eastern Kunar province on Wednesday, officials said.
The aircraft crashed into a wall of the Afghan National Army (ANA) base in Asadabad, the provincial capital, at around 11am, the Military Coordination Centre commander said
Gen. Mohammad Nawab told Pajhwok Afghan News the injured included three International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) advisors, two Croatian pilots and as many Afghan interpreters.
Earlier, a witness said the aircraft crashed when it was preparing to land on the army base.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the chopper was shot down by the fighters. All soldiers on board were killed, he said, a claim dismissed by ISAF.
