PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Police detained three people in the northern province of Baghlan on charges of trafficking 58 kilograms of drugs, officials said on Saturday.
The men were transporting narcotics, including 24 kg of opium and 34 kg of hashish, in two cars when police intercepted them during a search at a checkpoint in the Khanjan district on Friday, provincial deputy police chief Col. Syed Zamanuddin Husaini told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The detainees were being interrogated, he said.
A passenger in one of the cars, Jamshid, said police detained the two drivers, as well as a third person, after drugs recovered from their cars.
