JALALABAD (PAN): Two people were shot dead by unidentified gunmen while walking in the eastern province of Nangarhar, an official said.
The incident took place early Sunday morning in the Najm-ul-Jihad area on the outskirts of Jalalabad City, the provincial capital, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The gunmen managed to flee. Security personnel have launched investigation into the case, he said.
Provincial police chief Ali Shah Paktiawal said Lal Mohammad Paktiawal, one of the victims, had been killed along with his son because of a prior dispute.
But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that Lal Mohammad Paktiawal had been killed with his guard because he was a spy for international troops.
