MAIMANA (PAN): One Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier, one policeman, and seven insurgents were killed during a joint operation carried out by Afghan and foreign troops in the northern province of Faryab, officials said on Sunday.
The operation, called Wahdat 3, began three days ago. Brig. Gen. The fatalities occurred on Saturday when ANA and foreign troops engaged insurgents in the Aaq Dara area of the Pushton Kot district. Brig. Gen. Mohammad said that ANA and foreign troops had also detained three insurgents in addition to the seven killed, and were continuing to operate in the districts.
