JALALABAD (PAN was inaugurated in eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, an official said.
The USAID-funded project was established in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, as a result of a contract with the Nangarhar chapter of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said Mohammad Qasim Yusufi, an official of the chamber.
He said the centre would assist Afghan traders exporting commercial goods to Pakistan under the new Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement that went into effect on Tuesday.
However, he said the two countries had not been able so far to implement the landmark trade agreement to any meaningful extent.
Qasim said the new trade centre would help address concerns of Afghan importers with regard to shipping their trade goods to Pakistan.
