Militant group surrenders

JALALABAD (PAN province, an official said on Sunday.

Led by Mullah Shah Wali, the group had been active against the government in Karoch Badpash district of eastern Laghman province, the Sarobi district chief, Hazrat Mohammad Haqbin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The group turned in a rocket launcher and six Kalashnikov assault rifles to security officials.

On June 25, another 22-member group joined the peace process and turned in their weapons to authorities in the district.

Elsewhere in the district, an alleged suicide attacker was arrested by security forces in Uzbin area, said Haqbin.

He said the would-be bomber, who was arrested on Saturday, was an Afghan. The detainee had confessed to his intention, he said.

The district chief said they had prior reports about the attacker.

Meanwhile, border police commander, Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, said a 15-year-old boy was arrested at the Torkham border crossing. He said the boy was carrying five military uniforms, a pair of binoculars and eight masks in a bed sheet, he said.
