KABUL tribesmen on Monday carried out a protest demonstration against what they said illegal seizure of their pastures by powerful individuals in the Chahar Asyab district of central Kabul province.

Nearly 1500 Kuchis attended the demonstration that started from Saqa desert and ended at the Zahidabad bridge area in Mohammad Agha district of neighbouring Logar province.

The protestors issued a resolution saying some political and powerful individuals had grabbed and sealed their grazing lands.

They demanded the government should forthwith retake the lands from their grabbers.

Kuchi tribal elder, Haji Alwak Khan Kakozai, told Pajhwok Afghan News said lands belonging Kuchi people had been grabbed in Behsud district of central Maidan Wardak province, and in Bamyan, Logar and other provinces. He said they had ownership documents of the lands.

The resolution said the government should allocate a specific land in Chahar Asyab district for Kuchi tribemen to live on.
