JALALABAD (PAN): A policeman was killed and six others were injured on Wednesday in a remote-controlled bomb blast in the eastern province of Nangarhar, officials said.
The explosion hit a border police vehicle at 12:30 pm as police were patrolling the area between the Lali and Warsag deserts in the Lal Pur district, said the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai.
A policeman was killed, six others injured, and their vehicle was destroyed, he said.
A clash erupted between the police and Taliban fighters after the explosion, said Lal Pur district chief Abdul Qayum.
An investigation has been launched into the case, he said.
The Taliban have so far issued no comments about the incident, he said.
