LASHKARGAH (PAN insurgents killed during an overnight airstrike in the Musa Qala district of southern Helmand province, the governor’s office said on Friday.
The air offensive targeted militants fleeing in a boat to cross a river in the Ghor Ghorai area late on Thursday night, the governor’s office said in a statement.
A number of militants, including two commanders — Mullah Shah Wali Khaksar and Mohammad Ihsan — were killed in the attack.
The statement also said a joint Afghan-international security force shot dead a would-be suicide bomber in the Sangin district on Thursday night. A rebel leader was also detained in the same area, the statement said.
