GHAZNI (PAN were killed and two others wounded during a joint operation in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Monday.
The two-day offensive was conducted in Deh Yak and Andar districts, Lt. Gen. Dawood Shah Wafadar, a commander of the 203rd Military Corps, told a news conference.
Without giving further details about the operation, he said two mine planters were killed by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldiers in the Rawza village of Deh Yak.
Another insurgent was killed in the Laghwat village of the district, he said, adding the operation would continue until the area was cleared of militants.
He also showed two wounded mine planters to journalists. The militants had been evacuated to hospital by area people, he concluded.
