KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A huge quantity of banned fertiliser was seized by police in the border town of Spin Boldak in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Wednesday.
As many as 2,268 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, the main ingredient in Taliban in a Mazda pickup.
Border police intercepted the vehicle and recovered the fertiliser, the governor’s spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
No one was arrested in this connection, but an investigation had been launched, Ayubi said. President Hamid Karzai banned ammonium nitrate at the request of foreign troops last year.
