KHOST CITY (PAN): Work on a new civilian airport project in southeastern Khost province has been stymied by funding constraints, the governor said on Saturday.
Funded by the Afghan government, the $2,000,000 (95,400,000 afs) airport is under construction in a desert between Ismailkhel and Tanai districts.
They were making efforts for getting more funds to ensure the execution of the project in time, Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
All locals, religious elders, tribal chieftains and civil society members were supportive of the project, he said, urging the central government and aid agencies to help them complete the scheme.
Residents had demanded the authorities concerned for the early construction of the airport, said Nazim Zadran, a tribal elder from Nadir Shah Kot district.
