KABUL for extraction of mines.
At a meeting with President Hamid Karzai in Istanbul, Gul said Turkish companies wanted to invest in the area of extraction of mines in Afghanistan, a statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said.
A delegation of Turkish experts would meet officials at the Ministry of Mines during their visit to Afghanistan in the near future, a statement from Karzai’s office said. Gul also promised that his country would help develop the capacity of medical students of the Kabul University.
During the meeting held prior to a tripartite summit, the two sides agreed on the improvement of ties between Afghanistan and Pakistan and a joint fight against militants, posing a grave security threat to both countries.
“We are faced with threats and problems, but still there are solutions … if we honestly try to resolve the problems, we will succeed without doubt,” the statement quoted President Karzai as saying.
