JALALABAD (PAN): Thousands of families in two eastern provinces — Nangarhar and Laghman — would be supplied with electivity in next March, officials said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Nangarhar Water and Energy Director Eng. Mohibur Rahman Momand said 60 percent of work on the Ghochako substation in Surkhrod district had been completed.
The remaining 40pc work on cable laying would be completed by the end of December, Momand promised, saying transmission lines would be extended from Kherokhel to Jalalabad.
He said there had been an increase of six megawatts in power production capacity of the Daronta Dam, which supplied electricity to Jalalabad residents from 9pm to 11pm.
Laghman Power Department Manager Eng. Ikram said 24 hours electricity would be supplied to all villages of Qarghayee district and Mehtarlam with the installation of 13 new transformers.
