SHARAN (PAN): A district chief and his five guards were injured in a roadside bombing in southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday, an official said.
The Sararoza district chief, Mohammad Akbar, was travelling in a car along with his guards in the Sararoza village when their vehicle struck a landmine in the afternoon, the governor’s spokesman, Mukhlis Afghan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Akbar was seriously injured in the blast, while his five guards also sustained wounds, he said. All of them were taken to a health) in Sharan, the provincial capital, Mukhlis said, adding the district chief and a guard were in critical condition and the remaining guards had received slight injuries.
The gubernatorial spokesman said the governor, Muhibullah Samim, had strongly condemned the attack, calling it the handiwork of the enemies of the country and Islam.
Mukhlis said an investigation had been launched into the attack, but no arrest could be made so far in this connection.
