KHOST CITY (PAN-led troops in the Sabari district of southeastern Khost province, an official said on Thursday.

A NATO helicopter spotted two men planting roadside bombs on a road connecting Yaqubi area with Khalbisat. One of the suspects was injured when the helicopter fired at them, the district chief, Dualat Khan Qayumi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The second mine planter took refuge in a nearby village, where Afghan and ISAF soldiers conducted an operation, arresting the fleeing man along with seven others suspects, he said.

The detainees were currently being interrogated by foreign troops, Qayumi said.

Local security officials expressed unawareness about the incident.

But a resident, Ahmad Shah, confirmed the airstrike and the operation, saying eight people were arrested by the forces.

The ISAF media office in Khost confirmed that a mine planter has been killed and seven suspects arrested during an operation.
