JALALABAD (PAN): The foundation stone of a police logistics centre for the eastern zone was laid in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.
The US-funded training and logistics centre would be constructed at a cost of $ 20 million (960,000,000 afghanis) on 30 acres of land in two years, Col. Masoom Hashimi, the deputy provincial police chief, told Pajhwok afghan News.
Hashimi said the centre having 50 buildings, three of them two-storey, would facilitate logistic supplies to Afghan National Police (ANA) and Afghan Border Police (ABP) in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces.
Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal, the deputy governor, said the project was of great importance to the second phase of the security switch in Jalalabad and three other districts.
