JALALABAD (PAN): Gunmen ambushed a vehicle carrying officials of the customs department in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, killing one and abducting three others, an official said.
The incident took place in Ghaziabad area of Bati Kot district, the district chief, Israrullah Qarizada, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The attackers were riding on a car, he said. A customs official who sustained injuries in the attack later died of his wounds in a hospital, he said, adding three others officials were kidnapped by the gunmen.
The attack took place at about 6:00pm, customs department head, Khaliqullah, said.
He identified the dead official as Shafiqullah. The assailants drove away three others officials to an unknown location, but an investigation to rescue the kidnapped officials had been launched, he said.
There was no claim of responsibility for the abduction.
