GHAZNI CITY (PAN): A US military helicopter made an emergency landing in southern Ghazni province, the American military said on Wednesday.
The landing was made in the Qarabagh district of the province on Tuesday night due to a technical fault, an official of the media office on the Bagram airbase said.
Rescuers reached the site soon after the landing and cordoned off the area while a team of engineers repaired the chopper, which flew back to nearby military facility on Wednesday morning.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the fighters had shot down the helicopter, killing several personnel on board.
Resident Azizullah said he had heard of the landing in the area. However, he had no information whether the copter was shot down by the Taliban or landed due to a fault.
