KABUL over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior said on Friday.
Eleven individuals selling military gear were arrested in Shakardara, third, seventh, fifth and ninth police districts of the city, the ministry said in a statement that did not reveal the time of the arrests. The detainees are currently being interrogated by police, it added.
Six insurgents were killed during security operations involving Afghan and international troops in eastern Nuristan and Nangarhar provinces over the past 24 hours. A seventh suspect was captured alive, the statement added.
Six Kalashnikovs, five guns, a rocket launcher, 100 kilograms of explosives, 15 pistols and bullets were seized during the operations, according the ministry.
Police arrested two suspected mine planters in the Nijrab district of central Kapisa province. Twenty kilograms of explosives, an improvised explosive device and 34 82-MM artillery shells were recovered in Herat, Nimroz and Kandahar provinces.
