MAIMANA (PAN) seized 22 antiques, intended to be smuggled abroad, in northern Faryab province, officials said on Monday.
The artifacts were recovered from a house in the provincial capital on the basis of an intelligence report, provincial spy chief, Peghambar Qul Khurram, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The pieces were brought from Gerziwan district to the city, he said, adding no one had been arrested so far, but security personnel had launched an investigation into the case.
Khurram said the antiques, including clay statues, necklaces and bowls, were handed over to Department of Information and Culture.
