KHOST CITY (PAN): The governor of southeastern Khost province on Wednesday said they had formed a commission to help release innocent prisoners, urging residents to establish contact with the body.
Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi set up the commission in line with President Hamid Karzai’s instructions, a statement from the former’s office said.
It added the commission would focus on cases of the prisoners who were arrested during joint operations by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops.
The governor office, intelligence department, police headquarter and provincial council will have representatives in the commission, which will begin functioning on Thursday.
Prisoners’ relatives were asked to provide complete details, including the detainees’ names, father names, ages, jails, home address, detention places and reasons.
