JALALABAD (PAN): The appellant prosecutor of eastern Nangarhar province escaped unhurt in a militant attack that wounded four of his bodyguards on Saturday, officials said.
The morning attack occurred in the Sra Qala area of Chaparhar district when he was travelling from Pachir Agam district to Jalalabad city, the appellant attorney said.
Abdul Qayyum told Pajhwok Afghan News he survived the attack, but four of his bodyguards were wounded during the subsequent clash with the assailants, who managed to flee while leaving behind their vehicle.
Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Sardar Mohammad Sultani, confirmed the incident, saying one of the attackers was also injured in the crossfire.
