SHIBERGHAN (PAN): Three development projects, benefitting more than 1,000 families, were inaugurated in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Monday.
Costing $200,000 (9,708,000 afghanis), the projects included 117 water tanks, 7 wells, two small bridges and a 4. 5-kilometre road, said Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director, Eng. Mohammad Yusuf.
Each water tank has the capacity of 8,000 litters, he said, adding the schemes were completed in Bashikord, Zargar Khana and Kol Baqal villages of Khwaja Dokoh, Aqcha districts and Shiberghan city under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Maya Gul, a resident of Bashikord village, said about 310 families in their village had previously no access to clean drinking water.
