PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Three members of a family were killed as a result of enmity in the Nahrin district of northern Baghlan province, officials said on Thursday.
Another five members from the same family were wounded when two motorcyclists opened fire at them on their way to the capital Pul-i-Khumri, the district chief said.
Fazal Rahman told Pajhwok Afghan News the dead included father and his two sons, while five female family members were injured.
The attackers had managed to flee and the wounded were taken a district hospital by security forces, he added.
A doctor on duty at the hospital said one of the injured was in critical condition. Zainullah, a relative, said one of the attackers was a suitor for his cousin and wanted to marry her, but his uncle did not agree, thus the angry nephew killed his uncle and his two sons.
