Thousands of families get access to electricity

KABUL): Five thousands families in 48 villages were on Saturday provided electricity in Char Asiab district of central Kabul province, an official said on Saturday.

Da Afghanistan Brishna Shirkat Executive Director Abdul Razaq Samadi said 24 transformers, each having the capacity of producing 4.5 megawatts of electricity, were installed in the 48 villages on the cost of 163 million afghanis.

The power supply has been made from the Mahiper power station in Sarobi district.

Samadi said the remaining 10 villages would soon be provided the facility.

Another official Eng. Faridudin Farahi said the 4. 5 megawatts electricity would be increased to 8 megawatts in line with populations’ requirements.

Elsewhere, a meteorology system was installed in central Maidan Wardak province, officials said on Saturday.

Governor Mohammad Halim Fidayee and other officials attended the inauguration ceremony, the governor’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The World Bank-funded project cost $165,000 (8,050,350 afghanis), he said.

Irrigation Department Director, Eng. Mohammad Anwar Jalal, said the system would help observe changes in temperature, air pressure, moisture, and wind direction in the capital and districts.
