ZARANJ (PAN): Two suicide bombers on a motorcycle blew themselves up in a failed attack in southwestern Nimroz province, police said on Monday.
Police became suspicious of the two and started chasing them in the Dilaram district, police chief said.
The two escaped into the streets of the district bazaar, where they blew themselves up at 8:50am, Brig. Gen. Abddul Jabar Purdali, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Only the bombers were killed in the blast at the Haji Sharif Square.
Police later recovered two severed heads and legs of the bombers and remains of the motorcycle from the scene, he said. The bodies were sent for a forensic examination.
Police and civilians stayed unhurt in the incident, but some residential houses were damaged, Purdali said.
“Police were chasing the two suicide bombers who exploded themselves close to our building. The gate of the building was destroyed,” an area resident, Hajji Badar, said.
