CHARIKAR): Five tonnes of different ammunitions were delivered to the Disbandment of Illegal Armed Groups (DIAG) programme in central Parwan province, an official said on Tuesday.
The ammunitions had been collected from insurgents and illegal armed groups over the past two months, provincial DIAG head, Gen. Jalal, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Forty-two people were detained in connection with the ammunitions, a National Directorate of Security (NDS) official said on condition of anonymity.
Some of the detainees were released after investigation, he said.
A DIAG official said the ammunitions included artillery shells, tank shells, machineguns, kallashinkovs and mortar shells.
Nearly 57 tonnes of ammunitions have so far been delivered to the programme over the past seven years in Parwan.
