Ghazni governor to have museum in office

GHAZNI CITY (PAN): The governor of southern Ghazni province on Thursday said he planned to establish a museum at his office with personal expenses.

So far 67 pieces, including 900 years old antiques, had been collected for the museum and the number of historic artifacts would be increased to 1100, Musa Khan Akbarzada told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The governor said the historic items included “hand-bombs used by forces 900 years ago.”  He said the bombs would be provided to the provincial reconstruction team to know their origin.

However, Information and culture director, Hameedullah Sarwari, they had no information if hand-bombs were made 900 years ago and those were found in Afghanistan. He said people of those times would use arrows and swords.

The governor said the site from where the bombs were excavated had been kept secret to avoid any security or technical issue. He said people who were involved in the excavation works would be paid their wages.

Ghazni city is all set to be declared as capital of Islamic civilisation by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) by 2013.
