LASHKARGAH (PAN): Three militants, including a local commander, were killed during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign forces in southern Helmand province, an official said on Sunday.
At least three fighters were detained after they attacked police on a highway between Greshk district and Shorab military base, a spokesman for the governor told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Daud Ahmadi said another foreign militant was held with a Kalashnikov and three landmines in the Yakhchal area of the district by Afghan soldiers.
Foreign forces killed two rebels during a rocket strike in Sangin district. The guerrillas were planting mines in the area, the spokesman said.
A statement issued from the governor’s office said National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives recovered a number of weapons and explosives in Nad Ali district.
