KABUL): The Interior Ministry on Monday ordered a major reshuffle of senior police officers as part of a new reform policy.

The ministry said the reshuffle involving 24 senior police officials had been ordered after approval from President Hamid Karzai.

Maj. Gen. Syed Abdul Ghafar Syedzada is posted as Director General of Kabul Branch Police and Maj. Gen. Syed Mohammad takes over as director of a special operation police unit.

Maj. Gen. Nawroz Khaliq has been posted as the Kabul Police Academy commander, Maj. Gen. Khan Mohammad as Pul-i-Charkhi jail superintendent and Maj. Gen. Syed Ahmad Sami as 606th Ansar police zone commander.

Mohammad Inam Hoshmand has been posted as crime branch chief for the 303rd Pamir Zone, Brig. Gen. Sher Ahmad Maldani as border police commander in Herat, Maj. Gen. Abdur Rauf Taj as chief of the Kabul counternarcotics department and Col. Wali Khan as Nangarhar border police commander.

The ministry also ordered postings of new police chiefs in Helmand, Nangarhar, Daikundi, Laghman, Paktia, Parwan, Nuristan, Nimroz, Faryab and Farah provinces.
