JALALABAD (PAN): Two suspected insurgent were killed as a result of an airstrike by international troops in the eastern province of Nangarhar, an official said on Tuesday.
The rebels were planting a roadside improvised explosives device (IED) on Monday night when they were targeted by the International Security Assistance Force in the Mushengi area of Ghanikhel district.
Administrative head of the district, Haji Zalmay, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghan and ISAF soldiers also conducted a joint ground operation and defused some other bombs in the area.
The rebels’ bodies were taken to the district headquarters, he said, adding a Pakistani identity card had been recovered from one of the men named Kashif.
