MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN-Mazar-i-Sharif highway in northern Balkh province, an official said on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred at around 9:00am in Khulm district, Col. Abdul Qadir, the provincial traffic department chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The 303 passenger bus was its way to Mazar-i-Sharif from Kabul when it overturned, inflicting casualties on passengers, he said.
The driver stayed unhurt and the injured were taken to a health clinic in the district and the Mazar-i-Sharif civil hospital.
“The death toll may go up because some of the injured are in critical condition,” said the traffic department head, who blamed the incident on over-speeding.
However, another bus driver suspected the surviving driver might have gone asleep while driving.
So for this year, 70 people have died and 100 others wounded in traffic accidents on the highway.
