SHARAN/GARDEZ (PAN): Three insurgents were killed and seven others arrested in a string of operations involving Afghan and international troops in southeastern Paktia and Paktika provinces over the past 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.
Three rebels were killed and as many, including a local commander, detained in Paktika, the governor’s house said. An ammunition cache was found in Yousafkhel district, a statement from the governor’s office said.
The cache consisted of artillery shells and a huge quantity of bullets and explosives, the statement added. Additionally, a combined force detained two fighters during a clash in the same district.
Meanwhile, the Afghan National Army 203rd Military Corps said three guerrillas were detained during an operation in the Samkani district of Paktia province, near the Pakistan border.
