SAR-I-PUL (PAN): Up to 500 sheep were killed as a result of avalanches triggered by heavy snowfall in the Sancharak district of northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said on Monday.
The incident happened in the Aab Kalan area, where the animals were moving from pasture to the Faizabad village, the district chief told Pajhwok Afghan News. Sakhidad Khan said the herd belonged to an individual named Ustad Murad.
Murad said: “I was taking my sheep through a valley. All of a sudden, an avalanche hit them. I took refuge behind a huge rock, but all my sheep were killed.” He claimed each of his sheep was priced at 4,000 afghanis ($81.0701).
