14 rebels killed in Balochistan clash

QUETTA (PAN and Iran, police said on Tuesday.

Several others attackers were injured during the overnight clash that lasted several hours in the Sama-o-Lang area, the border police force said in a statement.

A large group of gunmen attacked the force that wanted to establish a security post in the Behlol area. At least 10 assailants were killed and as many injured in the counter-attack, the statement added.

Mustafa Zmarai, a local journalist, put at 14 the number of insurgents killed in the incident. Two border policemen were injured, he said. The clash came days after four security men were killed in a rebel attack on their post in the same area.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the latest attack, but such incidents are often blamed on the Balochistan Liberation Army, a local separatist movement.
