KABUL): Two separate contingents of Afghan security forces, numbering 1400, on Thursday completed their professional training in Paktia and Nangarhar provinces, officials said.
As many 1,200 army recruits completed a three-month preliminary training course at the Afghan National Army (ANA) Training Centre in southeastern Paktia province.
Public Relations Director of 203rd Thunder Military Corps Col. Saat Gul Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the soldiers, 600 each from Paktia and Khost provinces, were the 37th batch to complete training at the centre, he said.
In Nangarhar, 201 police sergeants completed a training course that lasted 16 weeks in Jalalabad, the provincial capital. The sergeants hailed from Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces.
Provincial police academy commander, Col. Mafad Khan Rahimzai, said 35 officers received physical training for the first time. He said 62,000 constables and sergeants had so far passed out from the centre, he concluded.
