TRINIKOT/SHABARGHAN (PAN): Food and other essential items were provided to 1,100 families in Uruzgan and Jawzjan provinces, officials said on Friday.
A thousand war-affected families were given food items, sewing machines and warm clothing by the Uruzgan Department of Women‘s Affairs.
Women’s Affairs Director Rana Sami Wafa told Pajhwok Afghan News the aid had been provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Sitara, one of the recipients, said she was happy with the assistance. She suggested the process of aid distribution to needy families should continue.
Separately, 100 families affected by Amu River flooding were also delivered food and seeds in the Qarqin district of northern Jawzjan province.
The deserving households were given wheat, ghee, pulses, rice, tents etc, National Disaster Management Department Director Eng. Azizur Rahman Aimaq said.
The aid was jointly provided by the World Food Program (WFP), Red Cross and IOM, he said, adding the WFP would continue to extend food aid to the needy over the next three months.
