KHOST CITY (PAN Cricket Board (ACB) for the construction of a stadium were insufficient.

Last year, the ACB promised it would construct a cricket ground a cost of $ 1200,000 (59,220,000 afs), the provincial head of the Olympic Committee told a meeting in Khost City on Saturday. Aziz Malang said the board had approved only $300,000 (14,800,000 afs) for the project so far, which was not enough.

He threatened if their demand was not accepted, they would launch peaceful protests. “The provincial sports department has demarcated 12.5 acres of land in the Badam Bagh area on the suburb of Khost City, but we will not accept this.”

They had long been expecting an international-standard stadium in the province, but youth were disappointed with the approval of fewer funds, said Nasir Ahmad Rokhan, a member of the provincial youth commission.

According to the head of Cricket Academy, Mujahid Zadran, there are a number of talented cricketers in Khost, where the environment is suitable for the game.

ACB Chairman Dr. Omer Zakhilwal had promised $1,200,000 for the project but the board was facing a shortage of funds, Anwar Shah Qureshi, adviser to ACB, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The board would complete initial work with the sanctioned amount and provide the remaining funds later, he said, asking the Olympic Committee not to interfere in ACB matters.
