JALALABAD (PAN): An anti-polio campaign was launched in 53 administrative units of eastern provinces on Sunday, officials said.
The 3-day drive involving 5,500 volunteers and health workers will cover Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman provinces.
Dr. Baz Muhammad Sherzad, director of public health, told Pajhwok Afghan News some 771,000 children below five years of age would be administered polio vaccine.
Cricketers of the region would support public awareness efforts, said former Afghan captain and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Raees Ahmadzai.
