KABUL): The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday Pakistani foreign minister would be visiting Kabul next month.
“Afghanistan welcomes the visit of foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar,” the ministry spokesman, Janan Musazai, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said Khar’s visit would help improve relations between the two countries.
In Islamabad, Salman Bashir, Pakistani foreign secretary, told reports that Pakistan supported every effort leading to peace and stability in Afghanistan. He said Khar would soon visit Kabul to discuss bilateral relations and the ongoing peace process in the neighbouring country.
About the tense US-Pakistan relations, Bashir said improvement in the relations would take time and decision on unblocking NATO supply line would be taken by the parliamentary commission concerned.
Islamabad closed a key supply route for NATO-led troops and ordered the United States to vacate the Shamsi airbase in Balochistan province in the wake of ISAF air raid that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in the Mohmand tribal region on November 26 last year.
Bashir strongly condemned the recent US drone attacks in the country’s lawless tribal region near the Afghanistan border, saying the attacks were against the international laws.
