ZARANJ (PAN): Two people were detained by counternarcotics police on charges of trafficking 308 kilograms of drugs in southwestern Nimroz province, officials said on Tuesday.
The smugglers, held in Chakhansur district on Monday night, wanted to traffic the drugs to Iran, Col. Mohammad Musa Rasuli, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said 118kgs of heroin and 190 kg of opium placed in a car were seized from the men. According to Rasuli, the drug traffickers, hailing from Chakhansur, have confessed to their crime.
A counternarcotics police official, who wished anonymity, said the men initially tried to escape, but were arrested by police.
