KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A Pakistani national was among three militants detained in the southern province of Kandahar, where security forces seized a huge quantity of explosives, light and heavy weapons, an official said on Wednesday.
The three suspects, including a Pakistani named Mohammad Bakhsh, were held in the first police district of Kandahar city, the provincial capital, the governor’s spokesman said.
Zalmai Ayubi told Pajhwok Afghan News some documents showing their links with the Taliban were recovered from the detainees.
Meanwhile, police seized an explosives-filled jerry cane in the eight police district of the city and a bomb-rigged motorcycle in the Zheri district, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
The bomb attached to the bike was defused, he said, adding Afghan National Army soldiers during an operation confiscated dozens of weapons and arrested two suspects in connection with the arms in Zheri district.
The weapons included five Kalashnikovs, four walkie-talkies, one pistol, and 71 kilograms of narcotics, 10 AK-47s magazines and some explosives.
