Journalist kidnapped in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (PAN (RTA) in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Friday.

The journalist, Kuchai Nasiri, was kidnapped late on Thursday from Kakrak village of Surkhrod district, where he had gone to attend a funeral ceremony, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.

An investigation had been launched into the kidnapping, the district chief, Syed Ali Sadat, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the abduction. Nasiri, 25, a resident of Surkhrod district, has recently been living in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

The incident came a week after the security responsibility for Surkhrod district was transferred to Afghan forces from their foreign counterparts.
