TIRINKOT (PAN): Five policemen were killed when a remote-controlled bomb blast ripped through their vehicle in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Saturday.
The police were on a patrol in the Charistan area on the outskirts of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, when came under attack, crime branch chief at the police headquarters, Col. Gulab Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A sixth policeman was injured in the explosion that completely destroyed the police vehicle, he said, adding the wounded policeman was taken to a hospital. Khan had no information about the extent of the policeman’s injuries.
As usual, the Taliban fighters asserted responsibility for the bomb attack, saying six policemen were killed.
